Perch fishing
Minnesota Fishing and Fishing Blackduck Lake
For Walleye fishing, the bait of choice for fishing Blackduck Lake can usually be divided up in seasons. Fat head minnows work well in spring and fall fished on Lindy type rigs, single hook spinners, jigs and small jigs or bare hook on slip bobbers. Late spring also try leeches. Leeches are an excellent summer and fall bait, and are fished the same as minnows, but often with a small float or floating jig to help hold the bait off and above the bottom summer weeds and moss. Worms are a great summer and fall bait and in combination with different techniques and tackle can be used to catch all species.
Early spring fishing is normally done in shallower water 7 to 12 feet along the shore on near old weed beds or major sized lake bars. After dark trolling of lures at times can be productive. Late spring fishing along emerging reeds can be good choice. Late evening fishing including 1/2 hour after dark on Blackduck lake is usually prime fishing time.
Summer fishing is a time to slow down presentation and to fish deeper and mid lake humps and bars, especially at bright day times. Weed edges will will usually hold some walleyes all summer long. Try slip bobber fishing, especially late evening. Trolling smaller crank baits can trigger walleye action, you may need a weight to get them deeper.
Fall fishing using a 2 hook spinner rig with 1/2 a night crawler can be devastating, bring in perch, walleye, blue gills and even northern. Trolling smaller crank baits, slow for walleyes faster for northern works for active fish. Don't be surprised if perch, bluegills and crappies are also actively hitting these lures. This the time for northern pike to get active and hungry, especially the big ones.
